TAJ SPLENDOUR

Day Return Trip to Agra
Delhi – Agra – Delhi

Taj Mahal – a wonder of the world, a monument of love, romantic and beautiful, a perfect piece of architecture. No matter how you look at it – in the light of dawn, in the golden sunset or just like that – it generates awe in people of all ages.

THE DAY'S PROGRAM

06:30 to 12:45 hours
Drive to Agra through the Indian countryside. Upon arrival proceed to see the wonder of the world – the incomparable Taj Mahal. Built in 1652 by Emperor Shahajahan this monument is a fine example of the fusion of many architectural styles.

13:00 to 14:00 hours
Proceed to Hotel Trident Oberoi where a sumptuous buffet lunch awaits you.

14:00 to 15:00 hours
After lunch visit the Agra Fort. Built in red sandstone, the forbidding exteriors of the fort hide an inner paradise – magnificent palaces, exquisite halls of public and private audience, a marble mosque and beautiful gardens. This is where Emperor Shahajahan was kept under house arrest by his third son Aurangzeb and spent the last year of his life viewing the Taj Mahal from across the river Yamuna.

15:00 to 15:30 hours
Visit to a marble factory to see the beautiful inlay of precious and semi precious stones into the marble.

16:00 to 16:30 hours
Finally before driving back to Delhi, a brief visit to the mausoleum of Mughal Emperor Akbar at Sikandra. The tomb is a splendid example of the combination of Hindu and Muslim architecture and represents Akbar’s philosophy and secular outlook.

Return to Delhi around 21:30 hours stopping midway for refreshments.
