ENCHANTING AJANTA

Ajana
& Ellora – these UNESCO designated "World Heritage
Sites" are centuries old caves with paintings and sculptures
that are considered masterpieces of Buddhist religious art.
With caves dating from as early as 200 BC, Ajanta with its
carvings and sculptures is considered to be the beginning
of classical Indian art. Embellished with remarkable architectural
details, sculpture of highest craftsmanship and paintings
of infinite charm, the Ajanta caves constitute one of the
most beautiful expressions of the art of the Indian Middle
Ages.
The Ellora
complex on the other hand, with its uninterrupted sequence
of monuments dating from AD 600 to 1000, brings the civilization
of ancient India to life. It is a unique artistic creation
with its sanctuaries devoted to Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism
and it truly illustrates the spirit of tolerance that was
characteristic of ancient India.
DAY TO DAY ITINERARY
Day 01–
Mumbai / Aurangabad
In the evening you
are transferred to the airport to board flight to Aurangabad,
the site of the famous 3rd century Ajanta Caves. On arrival you are met and transferred to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02–
Aurangabad – Ajanta Visit
This morning you will be proceed for tour of the Ajanta Caves. AJANTA is world's greatest historical monument recognised by UNESCO far near from Jalgaon city of Maharashtra, India. There are total 30 caves in Ajanta of which 9, 10, 19, 26 and 29 are chaitya-grihas and the rest are monasteries. The paintings are executed on a ground of mud-plaster in the tempera technique.
Return to hotel in the evening. Overnight
stay at hotel.
Day 03 –
Ellora Visit – Aurangabad / Mumbai
This morning visit
the Ellora Caves, one of the finest sculpture sites in the
country. Rest of the day is at leisure. In the evening you
are transferred to the airport to board flight back to Mumbai.
On arrival you are met and transferred to either the hotel
or the airport for your onward journey. |
